About this position
Stanford University School of Medicine is advertising up to two postdoctoral scholar positions with Professor Themistocles (Tim) Assimes in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine, Department of Medicine, and the Stanford-affiliated VA Palo Alto Health Care System.
The project area is molecular epidemiology and integrative multi-omics of cardiovascular disease, with a strong emphasis on genetics, genetic epidemiology, human genetics, biostatistics, bioinformatics, computational biology, phenomics, and large-scale data science. The research uses major population biobanks and cohorts such as the Million Veteran Program, Women’s Health Initiative, All of Us, and UK Biobank to improve biological understanding, refine risk prediction, and identify new therapeutic targets.
Research themes include extending genomic discoveries into under-represented populations, improving portability of genetic risk prediction algorithms, and working with dense electronic health records and multi-omics datasets such as genotyping arrays, whole-genome sequencing, RNA-seq, methylation arrays, metabolomics, proteomics, and microRNA. The post has no wet-lab component.
Eligible applicants include candidates with a PhD, MD, or MD/PhD. Formal training in molecular epidemiology or related areas is expected, and experience with machine learning or AI methods is an advantage. Non-US citizens and non-US residents are welcome to apply.
