About this position
Postdoctoral Scholar – Araldi Lab
Dioneia Araldi’s laboratory in the Department of Neuroscience and Pharmacology at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral scholar for an immediate, full-time appointment in Iowa City, United States.
The Araldi Lab investigates signaling pathways driving the transition from acute to chronic pain, with emphasis on aging, neuropathic pain, chronic opioid use, and stress. The research program combines complementary rodent and human translational approaches to define pain-related mechanisms. The successful candidate will join a collaborative team, contribute to high-impact publications, present at national and international scientific meetings, and mentor junior trainees.
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. in neuroscience or a related field and have experience with preclinical inflammatory or neuropathic pain models, behavioral assays of evoked and spontaneous pain, molecular biology, and dorsal root ganglion isolation and analysis. Experience with GraphPad Prism or R, catch-clamp recording, and Ca2+ imaging is desirable.
The position offers structured mentorship in manuscript preparation, career development, academic job-market preparation, and participation in the Pain Research Program, including coursework, seminars, journal clubs, progress meetings, and grant-writing support. Salary is $63,480 to commensurate, following the NIH postdoctoral stipend scale. Applications require a CV, letters of interest, and contact information for three references. The advertising deadline is January 29, 2027.
