About this position

I am very excited to share that our project, SHIELD Doctoral Network, has been funded by the European Union through the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions ! This achievement reflects the remarkable teamwork of 27 institutions—comprising 12 beneficiaries and 15 associated partners— coordinated by Margarita Trobos at the Department of Biomaterials, Sahlgrenska Academy at University of Gothenburg

SHIELD DN will train 16 Doctoral Candidates to tackle Implant-Associated Infections, drawing together an interdisciplinary consortium of academic institutions, companies, research foundations, national biofilm centres, and hospitals from across Europe, Switzerland, and the US.

We are thrilled to announce that our project, SHIELD Doctoral Network — Strategies for Healing Implant-associated Infections and Enhancing Longevity in Devices — has been funded by the EuropeanUnion MSCA !

Under the coordination of Assoc Prof Margarita Trobos
from the Department of Biomaterials at Sahlgrenska Academy at University of Gothenburg , SHIELD will address the critical challenges of implant-associated infections in orthopaedics , otology , and odontology .

Our consortium consists of 27 partners from 11 countries, spanning Europe, Switzerland, and the US, uniting expertise from academia and industry. Together, we will train 16 doctoral candidates in interdisciplinary skills through three essential pillars:

- Regenerative Medicine
- Biomaterial Science
- Translational Research

Looking forward to starting the SHIELD DN project, fostering new collaborations, and contributing to the education of the next generation of researchers in this field.
