About this position
Research Assistant Professor / Post-Doc / Team Leader No. 4 in Mid-IR fiber optics is available at the University of Warsaw within the Centre of Excellence for Structured Fiber Optics and Applications.
The successful candidate will work on developing new optical fibers for transmission, light generation, and sensing in the mid-infrared range. The project focus includes engineered optical properties through nanostructuring, fiber lasers emitting in the 2.5–5 µm range, and fabrication of ARF optical fibers from fluoride glasses. In addition to research and publication, the role includes contributing to technology transfer, participating actively in the scientific life of the Centre, and training early-career researchers.
The appointment is part of the MAB FENG project and is linked to a team-lead position. The project provides funding for at least one doctoral candidate or early-career postdoctoral researcher until 31 December 2029, together with technical support for the team. The employment is temporary and full-time, based in Warsaw, Poland.
Applicants are expected to hold a PhD or equivalent and have a strong track record in optics or related fields, especially in passive, active, or specialty optical fibers, optical glass synthesis, fiber fabrication, or modeling of linear and nonlinear phenomena. Experience with MATLAB, LabVIEW, Python, deep learning approaches, optical metrology, demonstrator building, international collaboration, and research commercialization is especially relevant. Strong spoken and written English is required.
