Assistant Professor / Post-Doc in Free-form Optical Fibers for Information Systems

The University of Warsaw, Faculty of Physics, Institute of Geophysics, invites applications for two positions as Assistant Professor / Post-Doc in the MAESTRO-14 project, "Free-form optical fibers for information systems." The successful candidates will engage in the design and modeling of advanced optical fibers, contribute to the development of new numerical methods for modeling special free-form fibers, and conduct both experimental and numerical studies of phenomena in these fibers. The research will also involve developing and testing new types of optical fibers for applications in telecommunications, lasers, and sensors. The position offers the opportunity to collaborate with a dynamic technology team, young scientists, and students, and to publish research results in reputable scientific journals. Participation in seminars, conferences, and training courses is expected. Research Assistant Professor / Post-Doc / Leader Team No. 5 – Fiber Optic Sensors and Subsystems

University of Warsaw is recruiting for a Research Assistant Professor / Post-Doc / Leader Team No. 5 – Fiber Optic Sensors and Subsystems within the MAB FENG project Centre of Excellence for Structured Fiber Optics and Applications . The successful candidate will help develop two universal fiber-optic sensor platforms, including systems based on D-shaped fibers and all-fiber ARF fibers. The role includes surface structuring, microfluidic and gas-system integration, and the development of demonstrators for biochemical sensors and distributed quantum sensors. The appointee will also publish in high-impact journals, contribute to technology transfer, participate in the scientific life of the Centre, and help train early-career researchers. This is a full-time temporary post in Warsaw, Poland, at the Centre of Excellence for Structured Fiber Optics and Applications, ul. Pasteura 5, with employment expected to run until 31 December 2029. The announced remuneration is PLN 420,000 gross-gross per year, under the FNP regulations for team leaders. Research Assistant Professor / Post-Doc / Team Leader No. 4 in Mid-IR fiber optics is available at the University of Warsaw within the Centre of Excellence for Structured Fiber Optics and Applications. The successful candidate will work on developing new optical fibers for transmission, light generation, and sensing in the mid-infrared range.
