About this position
Washington State University’s Institute of Biological Chemistry, within the College of Agricultural, Human, and Natural Resource Sciences, is seeking a Research Associate to work on the evaluation and certification of heat resilience in wheat. Based in Pullman, the appointment contributes to WSU’s land-grant mission and the Institute’s research on plant form and function, sustainable food systems, chemicals, and fuels.
The research combines plant genetics, cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, and plant biotechnology. The researcher will design and produce Greengate modules and constructs, develop CRISPR-Cas9 gene knockouts, produce transgenic plants, and genotype and phenotype mutant and transgenic materials. Work will also involve recombinant protein production, protein-protein interaction assays, liquid-handling robotics, confocal microscopy, image analysis, data analysis, and manuscript preparation.
The role supports a collaborative research environment focused on understanding plant mechanisms from molecules to whole organisms. In addition to conducting research, the Research Associate will mentor graduate and undergraduate students and contribute to laboratory management, helping maintain an organized and productive plant biology research program.
