About this position
The Department of Cell & Systems Biology at the University of Toronto is seeking a Research Associate for a two-year limited-term appointment in the Moses Lab, led by Professor Alan Moses.
The position is centered on computational biology and the study of how genetic regulatory networks are encoded in genome sequences and how they evolve. A major focus of the lab’s work is intrinsically disordered protein regions (IDRs), including their role in protein regulation and sequence-to-function relationships.
The successful candidate will contribute to ongoing projects in the lab and take a leadership role in research activities. The work described includes the development and execution of high-throughput assays for IDR function, analysis of biological datasets, and support for research directions that connect protein sequence with function.
The Moses Lab has recently developed a systematic functional map of human IDRs, applied protein language models to segment functional regions in the human proteome, and created IDR design software called FAIDR-Desi. The role is embedded in this active research environment in the Department of Cell & Systems Biology at the St. George campus in downtown Toronto.
The Research Associate will also contribute to supervising students and to research writing activities within the lab.
