About this position
The University of Miami’s Department of Dermatology is seeking a full-time Research Associate 1 to support funded skin research projects at the Miller School of Medicine. Working under the supervision of the laboratory head and senior staff, the research associate will contribute to studies of human skin disorders using laboratory and animal model systems.
The laboratory uses multiple lines of transgenic mice with skin phenotypes to investigate disease mechanisms. After training, the researcher will monitor and handle mice, maintain the mouse colony, collect biological samples, and perform downstream analyses. The role combines in vitro, in vivo, and ex vivo research with DNA, RNA, protein, and histology techniques, including staining and imaging.
Responsibilities include interpreting research protocols, performing routine assays and laboratory studies, preparing and analyzing specimens or tissue cultures, operating laboratory equipment, calculating and statistically analyzing results, and maintaining accurate experimental records. The researcher will also contribute to manuscripts, presentations, grants, personnel training, and general laboratory organization.
This position provides a research environment focused on dermatology, skin biology, molecular and cellular biology, genetics, transgenic mouse models, tissue analysis, and laboratory-based investigation of skin disease within a university academic medical center.
