The University of Birmingham is recruiting a part-time Research Fellow in the Department of Applied Health Sciences, School of Health Sciences, College of Medicine and Health. Based in Edgbaston, Birmingham, UK, the post contributes to the NIHR-funded FUSION global health research programme on preparedness and response for non-communicable diseases during flood disasters in India.
The project works with flood-prone communities in Bihar and Kerala to co-develop, implement, and evaluate primary-care and community-based interventions that protect continuity of care for people living with diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and other chronic conditions during flood emergencies. The programme is jointly led by the University of Birmingham and the Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, India, with UK, Indian, and US partners.
The successful Research Fellow will support mixed-methods research, including study design, qualitative and quantitative research instruments, data collection, data analysis, implementation, evaluation, publications, policy briefs, conference presentations, stakeholder engagement, and coordination across international teams. The role may include occasional travel to India and other locations, supervision and training of staff and students, teaching, dissemination, capacity building, and development of future funding proposals.
