About this position
Nanyang Technological University Singapore is seeking a Research Fellow in Econometrics and Machine Learning within the Economics Programme of the School of Social Sciences. This postdoctoral research role focuses on developing reliable econometric methods for instrumental-variable estimation and inference in challenging empirical settings.
The project addresses weak instruments, high-dimensional instruments or controls, and clustered data. The Research Fellow will develop weak-identification-robust tests, bootstrap methods, estimator combinations, and leave-cluster-out bias-correction and inference methods. The work combines econometric theory with computational implementation and empirical research.
The empirical component covers applications including import competition, education, and pretrial decisions using instrumental-variable regressions. The researcher will implement simulations and analyse data, prepare reproducible code, write research papers and technical appendices, and contribute to presentations in collaboration with the project team.
The position offers a research environment at NTU's Economics Programme and School of Social Sciences, with interdisciplinary connections across econometrics, statistics, causal inference, machine learning, and applied economics.
