We are seeking a highly motivated Research Scientist with expertise in protein characterization and bioinformatics to join our interdisciplinary team. This role is primarily research-focused, with opportunities to contribute to scientific publications and grant development.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Research (80%)

    • Conduct advanced research in protein characterization and bioinformatics.
    • Perform metagenomic analysis to explore microbial communities and their functional potential.
    • Apply computational tools and pipelines to analyze large-scale biological datasets.
  • Scientific Communication (20%)

    • Contribute to the preparation of research reports, peer-reviewed manuscripts, project updates, and grant proposals.
    • Collaborate with team members to present findings in internal and external forums.

Required Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a closely related discipline.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Research experience in environmental microbiology, particularly in extreme environments.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as R or Python.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary teams and mentor students.

Work Environment:

This position is based at the Columbus Campus within the Department of Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering (FABE). The successful candidate will work in a collaborative and innovative research environment.
