About this position
Erasmus Centre for Entrepreneurship (ECE) at Erasmus University Rotterdam is seeking an experienced researcher to work on entrepreneurship, innovation ecosystems, and the dynamics of fast-growing firms such as startups and scaleups. The position sits at the intersection of science and practice, with a strong focus on turning research into actionable insights for organizations, policymakers, and other societal partners.
The role involves taking the substantive lead in research projects: shaping research design, selecting suitable qualitative and quantitative methods, carrying out analyses, combining interview and desk research with data-driven findings, and translating results into clear conclusions and recommendations. The work covers a broad range of topics, from the conditions for future-oriented innovation ecosystems to deeper studies of sectors, regions, and societal transitions.
ECE positions itself as an internationally oriented centre for entrepreneurship education and research, embedded in the entrepreneurial and collaborative environment of Erasmus University Rotterdam and connected to startups, entrepreneurs, academics, and policy stakeholders. The successful candidate will contribute to research outputs, proposals, knowledge exchange, methodological development, and the professional growth of the research team, while also helping shape new research initiatives and value propositions.
The post is based in Rotterdam and offers the opportunity to work in a practical, impact-oriented research setting with strong links to the wider entrepreneurship and innovation community.
