About this position

The California Institute of Technology’s Division of Geological and Planetary Sciences invites applications for the Foster and Coco Stanback Postdoctoral Fellowship in global environmental science, beginning in fall 2027. The fellowship supports innovative early-career researchers whose work addresses major environmental and Earth-system questions.

Relevant research areas include climate adaptation and mitigation, environmental microbiology, terrestrial and marine biogeochemistry, glaciology, paleoclimatology, atmospheric chemistry and composition, physical oceanography, and climate dynamics. Fellows will be hosted and mentored by one or more Caltech division professors and are encouraged to identify potential hosts in their research statement.

The appointment normally lasts two years. Funding includes an annual stipend of $80,000, a $10,000 research expense fund, up to $1,500 for one-way travel to Pasadena, and eligibility for Caltech health and dental benefit programs.
