Lund University in Sweden invites applications for a three-year, full-time postdoctoral researcher position in Comparative Literature, based at Komplitt – Forum for Comparative Literature within the Centre for Languages and Literature.
The postdoctoral researcher will work on the interdisciplinary project Censorship, “banned books”, and persecuted authors. The project examines literary censorship, freedom of expression, and human rights, and involves collaboration with the Dawit Isaak Library in Malmö, the GRIDH research infrastructure at the University of Gothenburg, Swedish PEN, and the Swedish Institute for Children’s Books. Research may contribute to the expansion of The Dawit Isaak Database of Censorship.
Responsibilities include conducting innovative research on literary censorship, participating in Komplitt’s international network, and helping plan and deliver seminars and academic conferences. Teaching, supervision, and related duties may comprise up to one-fifth of working time, and the position includes pedagogical training.
Applicants need a completed doctorate in Literature or a language subject specialising in literature, experience in comparative literature research, strong research and collaboration skills, teaching proficiency, and excellent English plus at least two additional languages. The application must include an independently developed project plan addressing literature, censorship, and human rights. The plan must cover at least three linguistic or cultural areas and use interdisciplinary or methodologically innovative approaches. Experience with censorship, persecuted authors, banned books, cross-disciplinary research, and collaboration beyond academia is advantageous.

It offers a monthly salary and standard Lund University employment benefits, including generous holidays, occupational pension benefits, and relocation support for international employees. The application deadline is 30 December 2026.
