About this position

Two postdoctoral fellowships are available through McGill University’s interdisciplinary Citadel of the Mind project, led by Professor Blake Richards and supported by the Schmidt Sciences Polymath Award. The project sits at the intersection of artificial intelligence, neuroscience, cognitive science, psychometrics, and video games, with the goal of developing new approaches to understanding intelligence and the mind.

The first position, Postdoctoral Fellow – Cognitive Assessment and Psychometrics, will adapt established cognitive assessments into engaging video game mechanics. Research areas include working memory, response inhibition, cognitive flexibility, time perception, and related cognitive functions.

The second position, Postdoctoral Fellow – Multimodal Machine Learning, will develop a foundation model of human neurotypes by integrating cognitive task performance, conversational text, and biometric data. The work will use self-supervised representation learning to model individual differences.

Applicants with relevant backgrounds in neuroscience, artificial intelligence, machine learning, cognitive assessment, psychometrics, cognitive science, multimodal learning, or related fields may be suitable. International researchers are welcome to apply, and work-permit support may be available for selected candidates. Applications are due by November 30, 2026. Apply through the appropriate McGill Workday link for the position of interest.

Funding details

The project is supported by the Schmidt Sciences Polymath Award. The post provides no specific salary, stipend, tuition, or benefits details. Work-permit support may be available for selected international candidates.
