About this position
Case Western Reserve University’s Duval Lab is hiring two postdoctoral researchers in critical mineral recovery from waste streams. Both projects use rotating packed bed separation technology developed in collaboration with Argonne National Laboratory and offer opportunities to work with national laboratory and industry partners.
The first postdoctoral project is funded through DARPA and focuses on an electrochemical rotating packed bed reactor. Responsibilities include complex fluid characterization, separation-process design, and contributions to a commercialization plan.
The second postdoctoral project is part of the DOE Mine of the Future initiative. It focuses on developing a separation process and digital twin using adsorptive and liquid-liquid extraction rotating packed beds to produce rare earth element concentrates. Responsibilities include solid-phase adsorption material selection, polymer synthesis and characterization, rotating packed bed testing, and process design.
The positions are based in the Duval Lab at the Case School of Engineering, Case Western Reserve University, in the United States. Interested applicants should apply through the appropriate Interfolio link provided in the announcement.
