About this position
Louisiana State University AgCenter is seeking a postdoctoral researcher for a two-year project on management strategies for the invasive pasture mealybug, Heliococcus novovillei, affecting sugarcane. The researcher will join the LSU Department of Entomology at the LSU Main Campus in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, with research activities extending to field sites in other regions of the state.
The project combines field, greenhouse, and laboratory research. Activities include toxicological assays, field demonstration trials, and remote sensing designed to improve integrated pest management of the invasive pest. The postdoctoral researcher will independently design experiments, collect and analyze data, and publish and present research findings.
The role also includes supervising and instructing summer field assistants and facilitating graduate student research. The LSU Agricultural Center provides an agricultural research environment through the Louisiana Agricultural Experiment Station, its academic departments, branch research stations, and statewide extension network.
This is a grant-funded postdoctoral appointment in agricultural entomology with a tentative start date of January 1, 2027, although earlier commencement may be possible.
