Postdoctoral Research Associate

The group of Professor Aditya Sood in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and the Princeton Materials Institute at Princeton University is seeking postdoctoral research associates. The lab focuses on ultrafast science, nanoscale thermal transport, and microelectronics, with applications in energy-efficient computing, thermal management, and energy conversion. The successful candidate will have strong expertise in building and conducting ultrafast time-resolved optical experiments, including designing, assembling, and aligning ultrafast optical setups and integrating them with measurement electronics for data acquisition. Experience in nonlinear optics (such as optical parametric amplifiers), electrical switching, high-frequency electronics, thermal transport physics, and beamline experiments at user facilities is beneficial but not required. The lab values technical expertise, strong communication, teamwork, and mentorship. Candidates should be able to lead independent research projects and collaborate with junior lab members. A good publication record demonstrating technical writing skills is essential, and preprints are welcome. Applicants must have (or expect to soon receive) a PhD in materials science, physics, chemistry, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or related fields. The position is for one year, with the possibility of renewal based on performance and continued funding. The expected salary range is $65,000-$70,000 per year, and Princeton University offers a comprehensive benefits program. The work location is in-person on campus at Princeton University. Applications must be submitted online, including a CV, cover letter, and references. Princeton University is an Equal Opportunity Employer and encourages applications from all qualified individuals regardless of background.
