Two Fully Funded UK PhD Studentships in Computational Biology, Biomedical AI and Functional Genomics
Two fully funded PhD studentships are available in the United Kingdom, with projects spanning computational biology, biomedical AI, epigenomics and functional genomics. Funding is available for UK home students only; international or overseas tuition fees are not covered. Each studentship includes UK home tuition fees and a stipend at UKRI rates. The first project, Developing Artificial Intelligence Approaches to Investigate Epigenomic Regulatory Logic in Healthy and Disease States , will use computational biology and biomedical AI to study genomic variation, transcription-factor and epigenomic dynamics, and enhancer-promoter interactions that regulate gene expression. Applications include biomedical models and disease states such as cancer, aging, and inflammation and immunity. The second project, Functional genomics of organelle communication networks controlling human β cell maturation , is a joint project involving Professor Alejandra Tomas Catela and collaborators at Imperial College London. It offers multidisciplinary training in functional genomics, cell and molecular biology, engineering biology, data science and computational biology, with relevance to human genetics, diabetes and metabolic disease. Outstanding graduates with interests in biomedical AI, gene regulation, disease epigenomics, functional genomics, cell biology, human genetics or diabetes research are encouraged to review the project instructions. Prospective applicants may contact Associate Professor Shamith Samarajiwa for further information.
