Assistant Professor in Cognitive Science, AI and the Mind

The Institute of Cognitive Science at the University of Colorado Boulder is hiring a tenure-track Assistant Professor in AI and the Mind with an anticipated start date of Fall 2027 . This is a faculty opening for researchers working at the intersection of artificial intelligence and human cognition . Research areas of interest include Computational Models of Cognition , AI Tools for Cognitive Neuroscience , Human-AI Interaction , Brain-Computer Interfaces , Algorithmic Bias & Cognitive Bias , and Philosophy of Mind & AI . The Institute of Cognitive Science is highly interdisciplinary and connects faculty across computer science, psychology and neuroscience, linguistics, philosophy, education, and related areas. The successful candidate will have a tenure home in the most appropriate department, such as Computer Science , Information Science , the School of Education , Psychology and Neuroscience , or Linguistics . Responsibilities include research, teaching, service, and mentoring graduate and undergraduate students. The post emphasizes building a strong externally funded research program and contributing to interdisciplinary collaboration. Eligibility requires a Ph.D. in a relevant field and an outstanding research record, including publications and evidence of pursuing or securing funding as a PI where appropriate. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States; new visa sponsorship is not available . Salary is listed at $85,000–$140,000 depending on rank, experience, and academic home department.
