🚀 Funded PhD opportunity in Civil Engineering / Structural Engineering , Computer Science , Electrical Engineering , and Mechanical Engineering at the Physics-informed Resilient Infrastructure and Structural Modeling (PRISM) Lab through the SDSU–UC San Diego Joint Doctoral Program . The lab’s mission is to advance the resilience and intelligence of civil infrastructure. Research themes include physics-informed machine learning and AI-driven digital twins, structural health monitoring and experimental dynamics, smart sensing using UAVs and wireless sensors, computer vision for infrastructure inspection, and multimodal generative AI for decision support, including LLMs and VLMs. This is a fully funded PhD position with a research assistantship stipend, tuition support, and access to state-of-the-art laboratories and research facilities at San Diego State University and UC San Diego. Applicants should have a bachelor’s or master’s degree preferred in a related field, strong programming skills in Python, MATLAB, C/C++, or similar tools, and interest or experience in PINNs, deep learning, computer vision, generative AI, high-performance computing, structural dynamics, computational mechanics, sensing, or Bayesian modeling. The selected student will enroll in the SDSU–UC San Diego Joint Doctoral Program in Engineering Sciences, with structural or electrical and computer alignment depending on research fit.
