About
Amro Hamdoun is an Associate Professor at UC San Diego, USA. His research focuses on developmental biology and genetics, particularly in sea urchins, as evidenced by his recent articles on in situ hybridization, cell density reorganization, and germline transgenesis. He also explores advanced methods in cryopreservation and gene expression techniques related to marine organisms.
Positions (1)
Amro Hamdoun
University of California San Diego
Amro Hamdoun’s lab at the University of California San Diego is hiring for two research roles connected to marine developmental biology, genome engineering, and environmental health sciences. 1) NSURC Staff Scientist/Genome Engineer : This role will lead genome engineering and technology development for the National Sea Urchin Resource Center . The work includes molecular biology, transgenesis, construct design, delivery methods, embryo and larval culture, founder screening, stable line maintenance, high-throughput screening, mariculture, cryopreservation, husbandry workflows, protocol development, user training, troubleshooting, and outreach to the broader scientific community. 2) Postdoctoral Researcher : The postdoc will work with Lytechinus pictus and may develop an independent research program in areas such as human disease pathways, environmental influences on development, genetic/imaging/computational pipelines, and discovery-oriented marine biology. The lab emphasizes ecological developmental biology and environmental health sciences, with connections to the Scripps Center for Oceans and Human Health and the Allen Discovery Center for Neurobiology in Changing Environments. This is a strong fit for candidates interested in developmental biology , genome engineering , marine biology , environmental science , computational biology , and related tool-building or model-organism research. The post does not list a deadline yet; official job postings will be available soon. To express interest, email a CV, a brief statement of interest, and the names of three references to [email protected] . More information is available on hamdounlab.org and nsurc.ucsd.edu .
