Professor Anastasia Pournou is a faculty member at the University of West Attica in Greece. Her research focuses on the physico-mechanical properties and chemical characterization of archaeological wood, particularly in relation to medieval shipwrecks. She has also explored the efficacy of hydrogels and ethanol gels for the removal of specific iron oxides from wooden substrates, contributing to the establishment of European standards for archaeological wood.
