Postdoctoral Scholar in Sensing, AI, and Urban Infrastructure at Columbia Engineering

Columbia Engineering is advertising an immediate Postdoctoral Scholar opening in Civil Engineering & Engineering Mechanics at Columbia University , working with Professor Andrew Smyth and the NSF Engineering Research Center for Smart Streetscapes (CS3). The research sits at the intersection of sensing , artificial intelligence , and urban infrastructure . The group’s work includes urban transportation network modeling, data fusion across computer vision and sensor data for real-time situational awareness, data analytics and uncertainty quantification, operations optimization, infrastructure monitoring, wireless sensor networks, dynamic systems modeling, and AI. The role is designed for someone who can help translate cutting-edge research into real-world applications by integrating technologies into advanced applications, carrying out software development tasks, mentoring junior researchers, and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team of engineers, social scientists, and urban planners. Eligibility: applicants should hold a PhD in Civil, Mechanical, Computer, or Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science. Strong communication and presentation skills are required, and the candidate must be able to work on-site at Columbia five days per week. Academic and/or industry experience is considered a plus.
