Fully Funded PhD in Community-Based Exercise Social Prescribing and Health Inequalities

Nottingham Trent University is recruiting for a fully funded PhD studentship titled “Tackling local health inequalities in Clifton and Mansfield through community-based exercise social prescribing interventions.” The project is funded by the Collaboratory Research Hub and runs for three years . The PhD will evaluate the community-based delivery of NTU’s Sport and Wellbeing Academy and investigate whether it can improve access, engagement, and longer-term health and wellbeing outcomes. The topic sits at the intersection of public health , sports science , physical activity , social prescribing , and community-engaged research , with a strong focus on reducing health inequalities . The supervisory team includes Professor Angus Hunter , Dr Nicola Fisher , Claudia Russell , and Luke Gilbert , bringing together expertise from Nottingham Trent University , the University of Nottingham , and Nottingham City Council . Funding covers tuition fees and includes an annual tax-free stipend of £21,805 .
