CIC bioGUNE

Postdoctoral Fellow in Computational Systems Biology / Computational Biology

The Computational Biology Group at CIC bioGUNE is recruiting a Postdoctoral Fellow in Computational Systems Biology based in Derio, Bizkaia, Spain . The project sits at the intersection of computational biology , bioinformatics , computer science , machine learning , gene network modeling , and neuroscience . The successful candidate will develop computational approaches to design neuronal cell conversion protocols . The aim is to build a platform that identifies hierarchical combinations of cell fate conversion factors and uses them to engineer specialized neuronal subtypes for cell transplantation therapies in animal models of Alzheimer's disease , stroke , and epilepsy . The work combines gene network modeling with a foundational machine learning model to propose sequential induction protocols for transcription factors. This position is part of a Canadian federal grant (NFRF) with international collaborators performing experimental validation. The role is located at a Severo Ochoa Centre of Excellence and is intended for highly motivated researchers with a strong publication record. Eligibility highlights: PhD in computational biology, bioinformatics, biology, computer science, physics, or a related field; strong programming skills in R or Python; excellent written and spoken English; experience in computational systems biology and transcriptional regulation is a plus. Deadline: 2026-08-15. How to apply: submit your CV, cover letter, and at least two references through the center portal using reference 44641 , or email Prof. Antonio Del Sol at [email protected] .
