ESSEC Institute for Geopolitics & Business is recruiting a
Postdoctoral Researcher
for a 24-month contract starting
September 2026
at the
Cergy Campus
in the Greater Paris area.
The position sits within a transdisciplinary project on
geopolitics, business, management, political science, international relations, and economics
. The research agenda examines how new geopolitical dynamics reshape management knowledge, business perceptions, and strategic alignments. The project is led by
Prof. Aurélien Colson
and
Prof. Radu Vranceanu
.
The role is structured around a
40/40/20
allocation: 40% for the fellow’s own research and publications, 40% for the institute’s core research project, and 20% for the intellectual life of the institute. Responsibilities include literature review and thematic coding, design and analysis of experiments, theoretical and empirical research on defense alliances, data collection and organization, and co-drafting conference papers, policy briefs, and academic articles.
Applicants should hold a
PhD in Political Science, International Relations, or Economics
. Strong quantitative research skills are required, especially
econometrics, statistics, or game theory
. Strong English writing skills are essential, and French is a significant asset.
