About

Dr. Barbara Kitzler is the Head of the Soil Ecology Unit at the Austrian Research Centre for Forests in Austria. Her research focuses on soil ecosystem services, carbon cycling, and the impacts of land use changes on soil health, with recent publications examining timber harvesting effects on soil water retention, microbial dynamics, and carbon emissions. Dr. Kitzler also explores soil threats and the effects of climate change on ecosystems through systematic reviews and scenario-based assessments.
