Emory University School of Medicine’s Liang Laboratory in Atlanta, United States, is recruiting three full-time Postdoctoral Fellows: two positions in Cryo-Electron Microscopy (Cryo-EM) and Structural Biology, and one in Cryo-Electron Tomography (Cryo-ET) and In Situ Structural Biology. The laboratory combines structural biology, protein biochemistry, biophysics, and computational methods to study viral RNA synthesis machinery, viral replication, disease-associated amyloid filaments, and protein aggregates involved in neurodegenerative diseases. Projects may include high-resolution structures of viral polymerase complexes and other macromolecular assemblies; Cryo-EM single-particle analysis, helical reconstruction, and atomic model building; Cryo-ET, tomographic reconstruction, subtomogram averaging, and in situ analysis; protein expression, purification, biochemical characterization, and sample optimization; and computational image processing and three-dimensional reconstruction. Applicants must hold or be nearing completion of a Ph.D. in biochemistry, structural biology, biophysics, molecular biology, neuroscience, virology, or a related field. Hands-on Cryo-EM and/or Cryo-ET experience, independent research capability, and strong experimental or computational data-analysis skills are required. Experience with CryoSPARC, RELION, tomographic processing, protein biochemistry, and atomic model building is welcomed. The positions provide a competitive NIH-aligned salary commensurate with experience and comprehensive benefits. Fellows will have access to advanced Cryo-EM/Cryo-ET facilities, computational resources, and interdisciplinary collaborations across structural biology, virology, neuroscience, biochemistry, and biomedical science. To apply, submit a single PDF containing a CV and publication list, a 1–2-page research statement, a one-page technical experience summary, representative publications or manuscripts if applicable, and three professional references. Send materials to Associate Professor Bo Liang at [email protected]. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis until filled; the listed closing date is December 31, 2026.
