The position is designed for a motivated junior scientist who has completed a
Master’s degree
and wants to pursue a
PhD
. The research focus is
quantitative food supply chain management
, with topics such as
operations research
,
operations management
,
business analytics
, and
systems thinking
. The role includes research and teaching in areas such as resilient food supply chains, food security, food quality management, and cold chain management.
Core tasks include developing
simulation- and optimization-based decision support systems
for time-critical food supply chain operations, co-supervising Bachelor’s and Master’s theses, teaching duties, and supporting the acquisition of third-party research funding from national and European sources.
Applicants should hold a Master’s degree in a related field such as
business administration
,
food science
,
industrial engineering
, or
computer science
. Experience with coding and simulation/optimization tools such as
Java, Python, AnyLogic, Vensim, R,
or
CPLEX
is an advantage. Experience in the food industry is beneficial. Interest in teaching, research funding, and student supervision is required. German skills are an asset.
The position is offered for
4 years
starting

and is paid according to
TV-L E 13
at 50% employment. The post supports further academic qualification toward a doctoral degree.
