PhD in Trustworthy AI for Clinical Trials and Agentic AI for Clinical Trial Support

PhD opportunity in Trustworthy AI for Clinical Trials at the University of Limerick , co-supervised with Prof. Conor Ryan . The project, Agentic AI for Clinical Trial Support , sits at the intersection of computer science , digital health , and human-centred computing . The research will develop trustworthy, multilingual LLM-based methods to improve communication of clinical trial information, including eligibility, risks, and expectations. It will explore how agentic AI features such as structured reasoning, response provenance, and self-consistency can improve reliability, transparency, and user trust in healthcare settings. Ideal candidates should have experience or strong interest in large language models , natural language processing , machine learning , and deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow . Interest in trustworthy and ethical AI, including explainability, bias, and reliability, is important. Practical coding or applied technical work relevant to deep learning, NLP, or LLMs is desirable. Helpful additional experience includes digital health , clinical data , multilingual NLP , agentic AI , retrieval-augmented generation , or working with complex real-world datasets. Applications should be emailed to [email protected] by 5pm on 2026-07-30 . Further details are available in the attached advert.
