Fully Funded PhD Scholarships in Science and Innovation for Developing Countries (ANSO–CAS–TWAS/UNESCO, China)

The ANSO–CAS–TWAS/UNESCO PhD Scholarship offers fully funded doctoral opportunities for talented students from developing countries to study in China. Sponsored by the Alliance of International Science Organizations (ANSO), the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and the World Academy of Sciences (TWAS/UNESCO), up to 40 students are selected annually, with a special focus on climate-related research and priority given to applicants from Least Developed Countries and women. The program supports research in a wide range of science and innovation fields, including biology, chemistry, physics, environmental science, medical science, computer science, mathematics, and earth science. Awardees will study at the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS), or CAS institutes, and must complete training in Chinese language and culture, as well as all required credits and research for their degree. The scholarship covers tuition, a monthly stipend (6,000 or 7,000 CNY), health insurance, application fee waiver, international travel allowance, and a one-time visa. Applicants must be nationals of eligible developing countries, proficient in English or Chinese, born after January 1, 1991, and meet USTC/UCAS admission criteria. The application deadline is January 31, 2026. To apply, candidates must submit their application via the USTC/UCAS system, select the CAS-ANSO Scholarship, and indicate interest in the ANSO-CAS-TWAS/UNESCO PhD Scholarship. For further queries, contact the relevant offices at USTC, UCAS, ANSO, or TWAS/UNESCO.
