The Khokhani Lab at the University of Minnesota is hiring a Postdoctoral Researcher to study cross-kingdom interactions among arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi, nitrogen-fixing bacteria, and cereal crops. This postdoctoral project focuses on how fungal–bacterial partnerships shape nitrogen and carbon transfer, plant nutrient acquisition, and symbiosis under variable nutrient conditions. The research combines controlled plant–microbe experiments with microbiome profiling, metagenomics, transcriptomics, and multi-omics data analysis. Ideal candidates hold a Ph.D. in plant microbiology, molecular biology, soil biology, or a related field. Experience with plant–microbe interactions, molecular techniques, and omics-based research is expected. Helpful experience includes AM fungi, rhizosphere or hyphosphere microbiomes, metabolomics, compartmented systems, and crop plants. The position offers opportunities for collaborative research, student mentorship, conference presentations, manuscript preparation, and grant development. This is a postdoctoral opening at the University of Minnesota in the United States.
