About

Dorota Matyszewska is an Assistant Professor at the University of Warsaw, Poland. Her research primarily focuses on the interactions of drugs with biological membranes, including studies on the effects of chemotherapeutic agents and the physicochemical properties of lipid membranes. Recent publications include investigations into the synergistic effects of drug coadministration in breast cancer and the structural characteristics of lipid rafts in cellular contexts. She employs advanced techniques such as GIXD and PM-IRRAS to explore membrane behavior and drug penetration mechanisms.

Postdoctoral Researcher in the Laboratory of Biophysicochemistry of Surface Phenomena

The Faculty of Chemistry at the University of Warsaw is advertising a postdoctoral position in the Laboratory of Biophysicochemistry of Surface Phenomena . The project is titled The role of structural changes of lung surfactants in pulmonary diseases – from physicochemical description to effective therapy and is financed by the National Science Center . The research focuses on the preparation and characterization of model pulmonary surfactants and on studying the interactions of inhaled drugs and drug carriers with these surfactant systems. This is a strong fit for candidates interested in surface physicochemistry , interfacial phenomena, biomimetic systems, and experimental methods used to probe soft-matter and biologically relevant interfaces. The post also includes supporting doctoral and undergraduate/master’s students, maintaining laboratory equipment, organizing day-to-day lab work, documenting research, presenting results, and preparing manuscripts for publication. The position is based at the Faculty of Chemistry, University of Warsaw in Warsaw, Poland . It is a full-time temporary contract with a planned start in December 2026/January 2027 , initially for 12 months with a possibility of extension. The remuneration is PLN 140,000 per year total employer cost (gross-gross). The call states that the candidate will not draw remuneration from another employer under an employment contract during the period of employment. Eligibility highlights: applicants must hold a PhD or equivalent in chemistry or a related discipline, with the degree obtained in the year of employment or within the preceding 12 years (and held on the first day of employment). Strong English language skills are required, along with experience in surface physicochemistry and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. The advertisement also asks for a strong research profile, including publications and conference presentations, and participation in research projects. Desirable skills include knowledge of the Langmuir technique and spectroscopic (IR) and/or microscopic (AFM) techniques, especially in biomimetic systems. Application: submit a CV and a brief summary of scientific achievements (maximum 1 page) by e-mail to [email protected] . The recruitment process includes interview selection, and candidates will be informed at least 5 days in advance if invited. The results of the competition are expected by e-mail by 31 December 2026 .
