Dr.-Ing. Raquel Iglesias Esteban is the Head of the Advanced Biofuels and Bioproducts Unit at the Centro de Investigaciones Energéticas Medioambientales y Tecnológicas in Spain. Her research areas focus on enzymatic digestibility, biomass fractionation, and biorefinery processes, particularly concerning the production of biofuels and bioproducts from various biomass sources. Recent articles highlight her work on improving lactic acid production from hardwood species, optimizing sugar production from vine shoot biomass, and assessing the economic viability of ethanol plant retrofitting.
