15 PhD positions in the MSCA Doctoral Network PHOTONIQC - Building on Europe’s leadership in integrated quantum photonics to address scalability
PHOTONIQC is an MSCA Doctoral Network focused on building on Europe’s leadership in integrated quantum photonics to address scalability in quantum computing. The network offers 15 PhD positions across a wide European consortium of universities, national laboratories, and industrial partners.
The projects span the full quantum-photonics stack: design and modelling of highly efficient single-photon sources; experimental demonstrations of single-photon emission with high purity, efficiency, and indistinguishability; quantum-dot and cavity devices; low-noise quantum-dot heterostructures; integrated quantum photonic circuits with reduced thermal dissipation; photon-number-resolving superconducting detectors; cluster-state architectures; secure delegated and distributed quantum computing protocols; tomography and simulability of partially distinguishable bosons; variational quantum algorithms; and quantum memory interfaces for photonic sources.
Participating hosts include the Technical University of Denmark, CNRS, CEA, Ruhr University, National Research Council, Single Quantum, Quandela, University of Edinburgh, International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory, Sapienza University of Rome, and Sorbonne University. The projects are spread across Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Portugal, and other European sites, giving candidates a strongly international training environment.
The positions are intended for doctoral candidates with a Master’s degree or equivalent. As an MSCA Doctoral Network, the opportunity is oriented toward early-stage researchers and combines research training with theoretical, experimental, and industrial secondments depending on the project. Individual projects may require experience or interest in quantum optics, photonics, nanofabrication, detector physics, integrated optics, theoretical quantum information, or related engineering and physics disciplines.
Funding is provided under Horizon Europe - MSCA, and the network advertises 15 doctoral positions in total.
