PhD and Postdoc Positions in Perovskite Semiconductors and Solar Energy Technologies at LMU Munich

Ugur Research Lab at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU Munich) is recruiting for research positions in perovskite semiconductors , solar energy technologies , optoelectronics , and materials science within the HOPE project and a DFG Emmy Noether project. Open positions: PhD/Postdoc in Pb-Sn mixed perovskite semiconductors and a separate fully funded PhD position in perovskite semiconductor research focused on wide-bandgap perovskite materials for tandem solar cells and related optoelectronic applications. Research topics include: fabrication and optimization of perovskite thin films and devices, device characterization, advanced optical spectroscopy, loss analysis, phase homogeneity, voltage losses, degradation mechanisms, structure–property–stability relationships, infrared optoelectronic devices, and tandem photovoltaics. Eligibility highlights: PhD applicants should have a master’s degree or equivalent in Physics, Materials Science, Engineering, or a closely related field. Postdoc applicants should hold a PhD in a related field. A strong background in semiconductor physics and optoelectronic materials is expected, with experimental experience in Pb-Sn perovskites, thin-film processing, photovoltaic devices, or advanced optical characterization considered advantageous. Good English communication skills are required. Funding: The PhD position is fully funded for three years under a DFG Emmy Noether Grant. The postdoc position is also funded through the project, with an expected start date in late 2026. Application: Submit a single combined PDF by email to [email protected] using the specified subject line for the role. Include a CV, transcripts or publication list as applicable, a two-page research statement, and contact details for referees. Applications are reviewed as they arrive and remain open until filled.
