Fully Funded PhD in Epidemiology: Neurodegeneration in Autism at Karolinska Institutet

Karolinska Institutet is recruiting a fully funded PhD student in epidemiology for a project on neurodegeneration in autism . The work sits within the GARDEN research programme and focuses on understanding neurodegenerative processes among individuals with autism using large-scale epidemiological, imaging, and genetic data from Sweden, Denmark, and the UK . The doctoral project is led by Professor Fang Fang at the Institute of Environmental Medicine (IMM), Karolinska Institutet , with collaboration from other researchers including Jing Wu and Brian Lee. The project is a strong fit for candidates interested in epidemiology, public health, psychiatry, neurology, genetics, causal inference, statistics, and data-intensive population health research . Applicants should have a master’s degree in Epidemiology, Public Health, or a related field, plus prior research experience with complex methods and data sources such as register data. Strong statistical skills and English proficiency are required. Programming experience in R, Python, SAS, or Stata is considered an advantage, as is a background in medicine, psychiatry, genetics, or related areas.
