PhD opportunity at Oklahoma State University in Urban Hydrologic Modeling with an EPA-funded research project led by Gabriel Perez (Assistant Professor, Civil and Environmental Engineering). The project focuses on urban hydrology , wastewater systems , stormwater systems , synthetic city generation , artificial intelligence / machine learning (AI/ML) , and process-based modeling . The research aims to better understand interactions among urban development, hydrologic processes, and wastewater infrastructure, and to evaluate mitigation strategies for infiltration and inflow (I&I) and sanitary sewer overflows (SSOs) . Preferred background includes a master’s degree in water resources engineering , civil engineering , environmental engineering , hydrology , or a related field. Helpful experience includes programming, GIS, hydrologic or hydraulic models, AI/ML, and other computational tools. Strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills are emphasized. This specific funded position is limited to U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents . The anticipated start date is Fall 2027 .
