Joanna Surmacz-Górska is a professor and the head of the Department at Silesian University of Technology in Poland. Her research areas focus on biomethanation of sewage sludge, the fertilizing properties of waste materials, and the characterization of humic substances from wastewater. Recent publications include studies on microbial community analysis, nutrient recovery, and the challenges of achieving a circular economy in water management across European countries.
