Are you passionate about advancing additive manufacturing for both space and terrestrial applications? The Technical University of Denmark (DTU) invites applications for a fully funded PhD position in the Digital Building Technologies section of the Department of Civil and Mechanical Engineering. This research opportunity centers on developing a novel 3D printing system for melting and extruding lunar regolith, alongside pioneering composite 3D printing through experimental testing and process development. As a PhD student, you will engage in hands-on experimentation, advanced digital fabrication, numerical modelling, material testing, and process optimization. Your work will include fabricating and mechanically characterizing composite specimens with tailored fiber orientations, exploring how printing strategies influence thermo-mechanical properties. You will also contribute to the design, integration, and operationalization of a molten regolith extrusion 3D printing system, supporting autonomous, in-situ resource–based construction for lunar environments. DTU's research group is dedicated to the digital transformation of the built environment, leveraging technologies such as additive manufacturing, artificial intelligence, automation and robotics, digital twins, and smart materials. The project objectives include advancing continuous fiber-reinforced additive manufacturing, optimizing composite 3D printing processes, and developing hardware and control systems for lunar regolith extrusion. You will collaborate with experts in materials science, mechanics, and digital fabrication, gaining exposure to cutting-edge developments in 3D printing and robotic systems. Applicants should possess a two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or equivalent, with a strong background in additive manufacturing, composite materials, or robotic fabrication. Experience with digital design and control tools (MATLAB, Python, ROS), robotic systems (ABB, KUKA, UR), machine development, material testing, and process optimization is highly valued. Additional advantages include knowledge of fiber-reinforced polymers, large-scale 3D printing systems, space-related applications, and simulation tools (COMSOL, ANSYS, OpenFOAM). The position offers a 3-year employment period, with salary and terms based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. DTU provides a dynamic, international research environment, with support for relocation and integration into Denmark. Monthly seminars are available for incoming PhD students to address practical matters related to moving and working at DTU. To apply, submit your complete online application by 22 December 2025, including a cover letter, CV, and academic diplomas in English as a single PDF file. For further information, contact Assistant Professor Berin Seta ([email protected]) or Professor Jon Spangenberg ([email protected]). Explore more about the department at www.construct.dtu.dk and access the application portal here . DTU is committed to diversity and inclusion, welcoming candidates of all backgrounds. Join us in shaping the future of digital building technologies and sustainable construction for Earth and beyond.

DTU (Technical University of Denmark) is recruiting two postdoctoral researchers in the area of sustainable concrete production . The post is shared by Professor Jon Spangenberg , who appears to be the academic contact and announcer for the opportunity. This opening is relevant for candidates with interests in civil engineering , materials science , and environmental science , especially research focused on making concrete production more sustainable for construction applications. The announcement does not provide detailed project descriptions, but the theme clearly points to sustainability in cement/concrete materials, production processes, and construction-related environmental impact reduction. The post explicitly states that two postdoc positions are available. No deadline, salary, stipend amount, or other funding specifics are included in the social post text provided. The linked DTU career pages appear to be the official application portals for the two positions. Eligibility details are limited in the post content. No explicit requirements such as prior publications, specific degree background beyond postdoctoral level, language tests, or years of experience are mentioned. Interested applicants should review the linked DTU job pages for full criteria and application instructions. To apply, use the two application links provided in the post and submit your materials through the DTU recruitment system. Since the post does not mention a deadline, applicants should check the official job pages promptly for closing dates and required documents.
