José Antonio La Cal Herrera is Profesor Asociado at Universidad de Jaén, Spain. His research focuses on the circular bioeconomy of the olive oil industry, specifically the gasification of olive mill by-products and the production of hydrogen-rich synthesis gas from olive pomace. He is also involved in techno-economic evaluations of biomass gasification processes aimed at energy production in decentralized biorefinery systems.
