José Manuel Vargas Girón is a Professor at Universidad del Atlántico Medio, Spain. His research focuses on the archaeology of maritime activities, particularly fishing practices, as evidenced by his recent articles on the urban biography of Mauritanian cities and findings of fishing tools in various archaeological contexts. He is also interested in the historical development of fishing equipment in the Iberian Peninsula from prehistoric times to the Middle Ages.
