About

Professor Jose Iriarte is a faculty member in the Department of Archaeology at the University of Exeter, UK. His research focuses on the prehistoric societies and agricultural practices of the Amazon basin, with recent publications exploring topics such as plant seasonalities, maize monoculture, and the socio-environmental dynamics of pre-Columbian urbanism. Additionally, he investigates the implications of paleoecological data for understanding the Anthropocene in Amazonia and has contributed significant insights into the peopling and cultural practices of ancient Amazonian populations.
