Postdoctoral Position in Epidemiology and Register-Based Research on Fractures and Osteoporosis in Older Adults

Karolinska Institutet is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to join the Unit of Epidemiology at the Institute of Environmental Medicine in Solna, Sweden. The position focuses on register-based research about fractures and osteoporosis among older adults, with an emphasis on disease prognosis, prevention, and the impact of environmental and lifestyle factors. The successful candidate will work within the 'Ageing and Health' research group led by Associate Professor Karin Modig, contributing to projects that map longitudinal prognostic patterns after fall injuries and evaluate osteoporosis screening pilots. The research environment is interdisciplinary, involving collaboration with epidemiologists and clinicians, and is based on large-scale register and cohort data. The postdoc will be responsible for planning and conducting epidemiological studies, managing and analyzing complex datasets, performing statistical analyses, and publishing results in international journals. The role also includes supervising master's students and participating in teaching activities. Applicants should have a PhD in medicine, public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, or a related field, with strong skills in statistical programming (R, SAS, or Stata), experience with large datasets, and knowledge of geriatrics and fracture care. Excellent English proficiency and scientific writing skills are required. The position is a two-year, full-time, fixed-term contract, offering a creative and inspiring research environment at one of the world's leading medical universities. Benefits are provided through the university's collective agreement. To apply, candidates must submit a PhD certificate, resumé, publication list, and a summary of current work via the Varbi recruitment system by March 2, 2026. For more information, contact Stina Ek ([email protected]).
