Postdoc in Crystallization of Rare Earth Elements under a Magnetic Field
The Department of Chemical Engineering at KTH Royal Institute of Technology invites applications for a postdoctoral position focused on the crystallization of rare earth elements under a magnetic field. This research is part of a European collaboration aimed at developing innovative processes for recycling permanent magnets, with a strong emphasis on sustainable separation techniques. The project at KTH centers on advancing the understanding of crystallization mechanisms influenced by magnetic fields, including the development and experimental testing of novel reactor designs such as millifluidic devices.
The successful candidate will engage in both fundamental and applied studies, designing and conducting experiments on model systems and real-world applications. The role requires extensive laboratory experience and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with colleagues at KTH and partner universities across Europe. The project is funded by EIC Pathfinder Open, offering a full-time appointment for up to two years with a monthly salary. The start date is flexible and can be discussed with the selected candidate.
Applicants must possess a doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign qualification in chemistry, chemical engineering, or material science, obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline. Preferred qualifications include expertise in chemical engineering, crystallization, and precipitation, strong academic credentials demonstrated through publications, and excellent laboratory and analytical skills. Proficiency in English, both written and oral, is essential, along with teaching abilities, teamwork, independence, and awareness of diversity and equal treatment issues, particularly gender equality. Personal skills will be highly valued in the selection process.
