PhD Position in SNF Project: Impact of Regulations on Working Conditions in Parcel and Food Delivery Sector

The University of Basel's Faculty of Law, one of the oldest faculties at the institution, is offering a fully funded PhD position as part of a Swiss National Science Foundation (SNF) interdisciplinary research project. The project, led by Professor Dr. Kurt Pärli, investigates the impact of regulations on working conditions in the parcel and food delivery sector. The successful candidate will work independently on their dissertation within the framework of the SNF project, receiving close supervision from Prof. Dr. Kurt Pärli and collaborating with the Professorship for Social Private Law and the KOAMI team. The research environment is highly interdisciplinary, involving law, social sciences, and economics, and offers opportunities to participate in workshops and conferences. Applicants should hold a Master's degree in Law (MLaw or equivalent) and demonstrate a keen interest in interdisciplinary research at the intersection of labour law, social law, and regulation. Strong German and English language skills are required, with French being advantageous. The position is for three years, starting in early 2026 or by agreement, and comes with attractive working conditions as per SNF guidelines. The university provides a supportive and collegial atmosphere, access to a broad academic network, and targeted support for academic development. Applications must be submitted online and include a motivation letter, CV, diplomas/certificates, and publication samples if available. For further information, candidates may contact Prof. Dr. Kurt Pärli via email.
