The project aims to develop new insights and practical tools for trust-calibrated, AI-supported decision-making in supply chain management (SCM) and transport, addressing how AI can reshape collaboration, trust, and information sharing between organizations. The research will investigate real-world supply chain and logistics settings, examining how trust in AI and between firms influences data sharing, coordination, and joint efforts toward zero-emission systems. Using both qualitative and quantitative methods, the project will develop and test a framework for 'trust calibration' in AI-supported collaboration, helping organizations determine when to rely on AI, when to verify its recommendations, and how to design governance structures for responsible and effective collaboration. A pool of interview data is available to kickstart the project. The research project addresses the robustness of transport systems in an uncertain world, aiming to develop resilient transport solutions within business networks. The position is based in the Division of Supply and Operations Management at the Department of Technology Management and Economics, with collaborative links to the Swedish School of Textiles (University of Borås), School of Business, Economics, and Law (University of Gothenburg), and the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, as well as industry partners. The research will explore disruptions in global transport and supply chains, using the industrial network approach to analyze buyer-supplier relationships and business networks. Through case studies in fashion products, advanced transport solutions, and logistics/distribution services, the project seeks to advance knowledge of resilience in business networks and transport systems, contributing to both industry and policy development. The Division of Supply & Operations Management covers areas such as purchasing, industrial marketing, supply chain strategy, operations planning, material handling, and freight transport. Strong interest in business relationships, networks, supply chain resilience, and qualitative research is required, along with excellent written and verbal English skills. Experience with supply chain resilience, industrial network approach, qualitative research design (case studies, interviews), relevant industry experience, and proficiency in a Scandinavian language are advantageous. The position is fully funded, with a starting salary of 35,725 SEK per month (from May 1, 2026), and includes employee benefits. The appointment is for four years, extendable to five years with teaching duties (up to 20% of working hours). Doctoral studies require physical presence in Sweden throughout the study period, and a valid residence permit must be presented by the start date.
