Postdoc in Causal Inference and Data Scientist Positions in Clinical AI, Sepsis Prediction, and Secondary Data Analysis
University Medical Center Mannheim is advertising two research positions in a BMFTR-funded project focused on clinical AI, secondary data analysis, and predictive modeling for sepsis and other clinically relevant endpoints.
Open roles:
Postdoc in Causal Inference (2 years, extendable) and Data Scientist (3 years, extendable).
Research focus:
The project sits at the intersection of epidemiology, computer science, and medicine, with work on causal inference methods, real-world health data, clinical time series, and methods to make AI models less of a black box.
Postdoc profile:
Applicants should have a PhD in epidemiology, psychology, or a related medical-sector field with a strong quantitative background, plus substantial causal inference experience and programming skills in R, SAS, and/or Python.
Data scientist profile:
Applicants should have a degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, epidemiology, or a related quantitative field, with experience in secondary data analysis, data management, and programming in R, SAS, and/or Python.
Funding and conditions:
The project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR). Employment is initially limited, with the possibility of extension. Compensation follows TV-L and includes public-sector pension coverage (VBL).
