PhD in AI for Heterogeneous Adaptive Swarm Systems and Postdoc in AI and Materials Science at Linköping University
Linköping University is advertising
two PhD students in Computer Science
and
one postdoctoral researcher
connected to major AI-driven research efforts in Sweden and the EU.
PhD opportunity:
The PhD positions are in
AI for heterogeneous adaptive swarm systems
within the new national center
CHASS
(Center for Heterogeneous Adaptive Swarm Systems). The research focus is on
trustworthy swarm coordination and self-governance
, as well as
safe runtime adaptation and self-improving swarm autonomy
. The center brings together AI, autonomous systems, robotics, and swarm intelligence, with applications to drone swarms and other heterogeneous autonomous platforms. The positions are hosted at the Division of Artificial Intelligence and Integrated Computer Systems (AIICS), Department of Computer and Information Science (IDA), Linköping University.
Postdoc opportunity:
The postdoctoral role is in
AI and materials science
within the EU project
Materials Commons
, focused on building a European platform for materials-related data. The work includes extracting knowledge from text data and developing AI capabilities that use those data sources. The postdoc will work in the Reasoning and Learning (ReaL) unit and collaborate with the NLP unit at LiU.
Eligibility highlights:
PhD applicants should have a Master’s degree in computer science or equivalent advanced coursework, strong foundations in algorithms, programming, mathematics, and AI/ML, and excellent English. Postdoc applicants must hold a doctoral degree (preferably recent), with strong AI/ML/NLP publication record; materials science experience is a plus.
Funding and employment:
The PhD positions are salaried doctoral employments, normally four years full-time with possible extension. The postdoc is a full-time temporary appointment for two years, extendable to three years maximum.
